Giacinta A. Zeppeli (ジャーチーンター・アー・ゼペリー, Jashinta a. Tsepperi) is a character featured in Stardust Crusaders. Gia is an Italian student who started living in Japan alongside her family and was brainwashed by DIO during an earlier trip to Egypt. She is sent originally to kill Jotaro Kujo and the rest of his group alongside two others. After she's freed from DIO's influence, she joins the gang and helps them for a little while.
Gia is a stand user and wields the medium ranged Sand Taurus.
Appereance[]
Gia is a good-looking lady with fair skin, blonde long hair and piercing amber colored eyes. Her outfit consists in a cream tank-top, light brown shorts with a brown belt and brown ankle boots. Another prominent feature in her appearance is that her hair is always tied in a braid, the only time that her hair was seen loose was during her final moments fighting against DIO.

Personality[]
Gia is portrayed as a serious, cold and mean person during DIO's brainwashing. She really didn't care if any civilian or her own companions got hurt during fights, or died in the most fatal of the cases, since she only cared of completing the mission she was sent for. Once she's freed from the brainwashing she actually is a completely different person. She is a little bit more careless, likes making some jokes and is a really loyal person.
The reason for why she joined the Joestar Group was mostly to thank them for freeing her and saving her life. Since she worked with DIO she knew some things and was willing to help them as much as she could. Even though she didn't know the real reason behind the journey, which was saving Holly Kujo, she still helped. Gia wanted DIO to disappear so no other people would suffer what she did.
If we compared her personality with her grandfather's she is quite different, she's way more relaxed in many aspects unlike her hot-headed grandfather. One thing they both have is their dedication while fighting. (in Caesar's case against the Pillar Men and in Gia's case against DIO and some his minions) The other thing the two have in common is their great pride in their family name. This is shown in the fact that her actual surname is "Carpaccio" but decided to keep the Zepelli surname after her parents divorced. She has always thought the Zepelli family is way more important than others thanks to her grandmother.
Apart from her kind of silly personality, she's also a little bit flirty with many men she finds either hot or interesting. Another thing she has in common with her grandfather, but unlike him she does reserve her kisses.

Gia's medium range humanoid Stand is Sand Taurus; its ability is similar to The Fool's only with a twist. Sand Taurus has the ability to not only manipulate sand but transform it into crystal and viceversa, depending on what is the most convenient for the user (Gia)
Mastery[]
Since Gia has had her stand for as long as she can remember she's quite proficient using it. Manipulating both sand and crystal is something she finds quite useful, plus she has developed this ability until the point the crystal is difficult to destroy. (since only Star Platinum and The World can break it. Silver Chariot, Hierophant Green and other powerful stands can crack it a little) Even though Sand Taurus is quite a powerful stand, it's not that common to see it punching others but instead using its habilities. One of the most prominent ones is the "Desert Spikes", an ability used to make giant sand covered crystal spikes that attack de oponent from below.
Personal[]
Endurance: Gia shows a high-level endurance far surpassing other humans, since she's able to keep on fighting even if she's really damaged. This is shown when fighting DIO trying to help Jotaro, she continued fighting even when one of her arms was already blown off. Plus she was still concious after loosing a large amount of blood.
Strenght: Even though she is not the strongest woman, she is capable of handling hand to hand combat if she needs to.
History[]
Background[]
Being born as the last granddaughter of Caesar Anthonio Zeppeli, she had a very loving family that gave her a good and loving childhood. After her parents got divorced, her mother decided to live in a place completely different to Italy and decided Japan was a good idea. (since one of her friends, Holly Kujo, lived there) Three months before the start of the series her mother decided to take both her sister and her to Egypt, to have a good vacation. While being in Egypt she encountered DIO with her family, DIO sensed Gia's stand powers and felt a weird nostalgic feeling towards her. He tried to attack Gia's mother and sister which led to her starting a fight againts him, fight she ended up loosing. When Giacinta lost, she was brainwashed into following DIO's will via buds from DIO's own cells. She started as part of DIO's harem, but later was assigned to kill the Joestar Group the rest of his group.
Stardust Crusaders (1987-1988)[]
She was first mentioned by Joseph Joestar after he called his wife Suzi Q. She informed him that the "granddaughter of a close friend" disappeared a long time ago and was still not found. This references both Rosella Moretti, Gia's grandmother and a good friend of both Joseph Joestar and Suzi Q, and Gia herself.
In Egypt[]
She was first introduced in the series after Daniel D'Arby was defeated by Jotaro, two of her companions intercepted the group before they could move and started fighting against them. After these two were almost defeated a lot of crystal spikes emerged from he ground and she introduced herself. Later on she fought againts them, succesfully trapping them in crystal cages for a while until Jotaro broke himself free thanks to Star Platinum. Gia became startled and was easily knocked out by him, she could've been badly injured if it weren't for the fact Joseph found a familiar resemblance with Caesar and Rosella (because of her hair and eye colour). Jotaro then proceded to remove the flesh bud that was attached to her brain which made her regain conciousness. The team then told her she was free to go, they weren't gonna attack her but they couldn't trust her either, plus Joseph told her he would contact Speedwagon Foundation to take her back with her mother. She refused and told the team she wanted to help them, they didn't let her at first but then accepted.
In Cairo[]
Once everyone reaches Cairo she meets Noriaki Kakyoin and introduces herself to him, finds a nearly dead Iggy recovering from his fight against Pet Shop. They all regroup, along Kakyoin, just before they reach DIO's mansion and decided to enter. Once Telence T. D'Arby shows himself he tells Gia that not only DIO was waiting for her but her punishment as well for comitting treason againts Lord DIO. She gets completely scared and decides to step back a little bit, the heroes saw this and didn't force her to enter to DIO's mansion again. As the series of events happens (both Telence and Vanilla Ice's combats) she regains the necessary strenght to get in, she luckily finds Jotaro along Kakyoin and Joseph and guides them through the mansion.
DIO's World []
Later on she confronts DIO after Polnareff unsuccesfully tried to save Jotaro, she knew her death would be certain once she confronted him but decided to do it anyways. At this point in time Jotaro was lying on the floor and DIO was uncertain if he was still alive, thanks to that 50% chance of him living she decided to attack trying to maintain the vampire occupied so that Jotaro could take some time to regain strenght. While fighting DIO stopped time, noticing most of the control of Gia's stand relapsed on her right arm blowing it off with a punch. Gia continued to fight without one arm even though she was loosing an immense amount of blood, she didn't care and stayed in the fight. She ten lost her balance and fell to the ground, she gave a last glance to Jotaro and shouted to him "Please Jojo... stay... alive." She then died after being stabbed by DIO with a stop sign and due to the immense blood loss.

- Jotaro Kujo: Like, most of the others in the Joestar Team, her first encounter with Jotaro was in a fight. After defeating her, he lays her in the sand to remove the flesh-bud implanted by DIO releasing her from his control. Gia and Jotaro started not getting quite along for their clashing personalities (since Jotaro is more of a serious type of person and Gia is more playful) but after fighting together their relationship started growing. It is seen that Gia fell in love with Jotaro after he saved her life, but it is still unclear if they developed a relationship before her death. Gia's death is mourned by Jotaro and Joseph along Kakyoin, Avdol and Iggy. It is also seen that Jotaro keeps a photo that Joseph took of him with Gia, along the well known picture the Joestar Group took arriving to Egypt.
- Joseph Joestar: Gia had a special connection with Joseph since the first moment, for he was her grandfather's best friend. Since she never had an actual granfather-granddaughter relationship with Caesar because of his status, she appears to have a one with Joseph. Plus, it is seen they have quite of matching personality traits that reminded him of his younger years.
- Noriaki Kakyoin: Her friendship with Kakyoin was born thanks to the fact they were both abducted and controled by DIO, which made them have kind of a bond to begin with. Although her scenes alongside Kakyoin were minor it is seen they did get along well for the short period of time they knew eachother.
- Jean Pierre Polnareff: The two got along immediately, since they both have a silly personality and flirt a lot, so they had a strong connection in their first interactions. Another reason they had a really strong bond in the first meeting was, like in Kakyoin´s case, the fact they were both mind controlled by DIO. They worked well together in battles and in jokes, when others would disapprove of Polnareff's puns or actions she always found a reason to make it seem is was not that bad. Their friendship could be discribed as: partners in crime since they would always help eachother in many cases. Her death was mourned by Polnareff along the others.
- Muhammad Avdol: Even though she was introduced to Avdol, she didn't have a strong friendship with him but still considered him as a partner in the mission. Her scenes with Avdol are pretty minor since most of the times she's seen with him are scenes where theres either a fight or the team is together. Still, she does work well with him and respects him.
- Iggy: From the looks of it, Gia liked Iggy from the very beggining since when she was fighting the Joestar team and trapped them she told him that he could go and escape. After the flesh bud was destroyed she liked Iggy even more saying he was completely adorable, and Iggy didn't seem uncomfortable with her. After finding out he died because of Vanilla Ice she mourned his death feeling it was her fault.

- DIO: Being part of his harem and mind-controlled by him, Gia grew a grudge againts him. When she first met him she did not know something was wrong until she fought againts him and lost. After she was freed from his flesh-bud she wanted to do everything in her power to stop DIO from mind-controlling anyone else, since she suffered a lot from it. She died while fighting him, having almost no chance of winning, but she knew that from the very beggining accepting her fate.
- Vanilla Ice: It is not seen an interaction between these two, but it was probable that her "punishment" was being killed by him. This can be infered by Telence saying: "Lord DIO said he is going to take care of you", which implied another person would be the one killing her.

Trivia[]
- Originally her name was going to be Fiorella Antonella Zeppeli, but since it didn't sound well her name was changed to Giacinta.
- It is known that in her family, from her grandmothers side, only certain women are born with her eye colour. These women being: Rosa Castillo, Rosella Moretti, Nozomi Asahina and her other two nieces, Nicoletta and Alessandra.
- Even though she's a descendant of a Hamon user and her uncle is actually one, her mother didn't want anything to do with Hamon. Reason why neither her, her mother nor her siblings use this ability.
- Its still unknown if she did have a relationship with Jotaro or not, but there are some scenes where they do hold hands.
- She sometimes says "Mamma Mia" which was Caesar's catchphrase (or at least is acknowledged as that).
